
Collateral Design, Brochure Design for the Wine Industry

Kohler & Frohling, established in 1854, was arguably America's most famous winery before Prohibition. One of the wineries was the Tokay Winery in Glen Ellen, California part of the Jack London Historical Park.

These historic postcards of Kohler & Frohling, the pioneer California winery established in 1854, show the popularity of the winery. The winery was featured in the 1876 Philadelphia Exposition, and the 1893 Chicago Exposition.

Kohler & Frohling was one of California's oldest and most successful wineries that you may have never heard of. The huge San Francisco winery was built in 1890 at Second and Folsom Streets. It burned down after the 1906 earthquake.

Kohler & Frohling, established in 1854, was doing so well they purchased the "Sierra Vista Vineyards" in the San Joaquin Valley, Fresno County in 1878. A new winery built with a million-gallon capacity, Kohler & Frohling produced brandy and dessert wines here.

Patti Britton was hired by the New York office of Rèmy Cointreu to design this pocket size tasting brochure for the Marchesi Antinori family for their various wine brands and properties.

Yearly, Patti Britton designed the Opus One Winery Pre-Sell kit. Opus One was founded by Robert Mondavi and Baron Philippe de Rothschild.

Opus One Winery celebrated it’s 20th anniversary with parties. Patti Britton designed a brochure series called the Opus One Folio. There were three brochures–architecture & design, vineyards & winemaking, & family. There was a vineyards statistics fold-out.

As part of the Opus One folio, there was this brochure design called Opus One Architecture and Design. The architecture was designed by Scott Johnson, FAIA of Johnson Fain.

Included in the Opus One folio, was this Opus One Family brochure design. The first half of the brochure was the Robert Mondavi history. The other side of the brochure was dedicated to the family of Baron Philippe de Rothschild.

Vineyard statistics "cards" featuring detailed statistics of each vintage. The other side had an illustration of the vines in four seasons.
